Cessnock Wedding Venues

Are you currently engaged on looking for an awesome Cessnock wedding venue. I’m a Cessnock wedding photographer who has photographed a lot of weddings in the Cessnock region. And I have seen some awesome wedding venues and some pretty average ones.

Cessnock is a city in the Hunter region of New South Wales. It is less than an hour from Newcastle and about two hours from Sydney. The traditional owners of the Cessnock region are the Wonnarua people.

So here is the thing about Cessnock wedding venues. Cessnock is the main city in the area, but it is the gateway to the Hunter Valley Wine Country region. Meaning, there are not a lot of wedding venues. In fact, I only know of one. And that one is right on the outskirts of Cessnock. The other one I have listed is only about 5 mins from Cessnock in the neighbouring suburb.

Have a look at the venues listed below but also check out the Pokolbin wedding venues. Because those ones are located right in the centre of wine country and are amazing!

1. St Patricks Chapel Nulkaba

If you are looking for a church or chapel for Cessnock wedding, then St Patricks Chapel at Nulkaba is the obvious choice. It is located on the outskirts of Cessnock and only a few minutes from the main wedding region of the Hunter.

This historic chapel was built in 1872 as a Catholic Church. Today it is privately owned and is a non-denominational chapel. It is located on some beautifully kept grounds that are lovely for wedding photos.

The interior remains historic and very well maintained. It seats up to 130 people but it is worth noting that there is no air conditioning. So I wouldn’t recommend this venue in Summer. But if you need to do a church or chapel for religious or family reasons, then you should check out St Patricks Chapel at Nulkaba.

Address: Cnr Of Wine Country Dr & Kerlew St, Cessnock NSW

2. Abernathy House

Located on four acres of land, Abernathy House is a historic 1920’s building that has been totally restored to its original style and grandeur. It is a historic pub and country estate and they do weddings.

It features 14 accommodation rooms and you can do an indoor wedding reception for up to 30 guests. Or you can hire a marquee and have 150 out on the grounds. I’ve never photographed a wedding here so check out their website and decide for yourself if its the right fit for you.

Address: 20 Ferguson St, Abernethy NSW
