Lovedale Wedding Venues

Are you planning a Hunter Valley wedding and searching for perfect Lovedale wedding venues? I am a wedding photographer who has photographed heaps of weddings in the Lovedale region of the Hunter Valley. I am pretty much there every week.

Lovedale has a long history in the region and is one of the main areas for winemaking. The name Lovedale combines the name of 2 families the Loves, with the memory of and the Dales in England who were buried in St Paul’s Rothbury cemetery. Today, Lovedale has amazing cellar doors, restaurants and wedding venues. Everything is smaller in scale compared with Pokolbin, but still of equal or greater quality.

Have a look through my list of the best Lovedale wedding venues. Some of these venues I have been to heaps of times and others I have yet to photograph, but would love to.

1. Wandin

Wandin or Wandin Valley or Wandin Estate as it has been known is a huge property on an actual working vineyard but it is ideal and set up for weddings. The property has hundreds of kangaroos roaming all over the place. Which is always a lovely sight for your wedding guests.

There is accommodation available onsite, with villas and a large house. You have a few options for your wedding ceremony. Eucalyptus Grove, which is outdoor near the cricket oval. On the pontoon overlooking a dam. Or in the Barn which is full of barrels of wine. I personally would keep the Barn as a wet weather option and do one of the two other outdoor options.

Their reception venue is just beautiful and if you love cricket then it is even better! As it is located next to the cricket oval where you and your guests can play a game of cricket. Wandin is a pretty amazing wedding venue that can accommodate up to 120 guests and I love shooting weddings there.

2. Leaves & Fishes

Leaves & Fishes is an awesome little Lovedale wedding venue that is beautiful and secluded and has an almost tropical feel to it. The property sits near a small lake and the reception venue is surrounded by a tropical forest.

This property is not primarily a wedding venue. It is an accommodation property that has an amazing restaurant and store onsite as well. And they also can host a really beautiful wedding.

There is accommodation onsite, with 4 luxury boathouse villas overlooking the lake. These are beautiful and a great location for wedding preparations. Wedding ceremonies take place in the garden towards the side of the property. And Leaves and Fishes is a lovely place for some wedding photos.

Wedding receptions take place in “The House” which is surrounded by a forest of tropical trees. At night it feels like you are in far-north tropical Queensland with the festoon lights and cool breezes.

3. Adina Vineyard

Adina Vineyard is one of those hidden gems in Lovedale. It goes to show that if you love a particular vineyard for whatever reason, you can approach them and ask if you can have a wedding there.

They don’t promote or even say that they do weddings, but I have photographed a wedding there, and it was just beautiful.

There are three self-contained lodges on the property so you can easily have your wedding preparation there. The ceremony takes place out on the lawn area, which overlooks the landscape, vineyards and olive grove. The whole property is just lovely for wedding photos, particularly at sunset. Wedding receptions simply take place in the restaurant

4. Lovedale Wedding Chapel and Reception

Lovedale Wedding Chapel and Reception is an all-in-one wedding destination. It has a wedding chapel, reception hall, and housing with our three cottages. It is located on a spectacular 27-acre country residence, and has stunning views of Watagans and Brokenback Mountain Ranges. The property remains solely yours when booked for your wedding.  No other weddings taking place, providing each couple with a private and intimate experience. 

The wedding reception has an exclusive in-house caterer giving free food tastings. The house is situated in picturesque Lovedale, in the middle of the wine country.

Built by hand by the owner who also lives on site, the Chapel was newly constructed at the end of 2004. The reception is basically all brand new, established in 2014. In a comfortable, stress-free environment, it was planned to provide couples with total privacy. The Reception room has a large deck overlooking the spectacular church, vineyard, gazebo, lake, bridge, and fountain garden where your people can enjoy drinks and canapés. The reception venue offers panoramic views from every seat across the Hunter Valley vineyard area through large double glass doors leading out to the deck.

5. Glenmore Estate

Situated at the outer edge of the Jade Estate Vineyard, Glenmore dates back to the mid-1800s and holds the distinction of being the original homestead of the area. The marvellously romantic house characterises all that is the Hunter Valley.

Heralded as one of the Hunter Valley region ‘s finest wedding locations, Glenmore Country Estate has a long tradition of creating a dreamy wedding spot for couples.

The magnificent barn can comfortably hold 60 to 120 visitors anywhere at any time, while the manicured gardens mean that you can drive the celebration out into the star-filled evening sky.

6. Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley

Crown Plaza is one only a few major resorts that can accommodate hundreds of guests. They can also accommodate huge weddings of up to 800 guests in their function rooms.

If you are searching for a wedding venue that can accommodate any needs and wants, it is certainly worth considering a ceremony and reception at Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley. This vast resort provides your ceremony and reception a multitude of indoor and outdoor options, as well as luxurious lodging for all your family and friends.

7. Moravia Park Hunter Valley

If you are looking for a barn-style wedding venue, then Moravia Park might be the wedding venue for you. Moravia Park is a spectacular one-of-a-kind destination located in the vibrant heart of Hunter Valley, Lovedale.

The barn itself has been recently renovated and has maintained much of its original beauty. From the raw metal beams down to the barn interior’s weathered timber lining. There is so much personality to this beauty! The barn features huge double sliding barn doors opening onto a split level bar and reception venue area.

Moravia Park is a blank canvas, DIY Hunter Valley wedding venue. Meaning, that you have a beautiful room to decorate to reflect your style and your wedding. You can make it exactly how you have always imagined. So make your wedding dreams come true!

8. Bluebush Estate

Located on ten acres of land in Lovedale, Bluebush Estate is a lovely intimate wedding venue that is primarily an accommodation venue. But they have done weddings before and I can see that weddings would work really well here, particularly for couples looking to create something unique.

There are four properties at Bluebush Estate. So if you are planning a wedding I would recommend booking out all the accommodation on the property. Then you would have the place to yourself and create an awesome wedding around all these spaces.

The Chalet – can accommodate 10 people.

The Cottage – has three bedrooms and can accommodate 6 people.

Bluebush Country Lodge – has five bedrooms and can accommodate 10 people.

Bluebush Lodge – has five bedrooms and can accommodate 12 people

The Barn – has one bedroom and can accommodate 2 people.

9. Ironstone Estate

This is a private estate set on 45 acres on vineyards and farmland in Lovedale. It features two large self-contained farmhouses and they say that they cater to weddings.

The accommodation is perfect for two large groups. ‘The Homestead’ has 5 bedrooms, 6 Queen beds and 3 bathrooms. ‘The Lodge’ has 6 bedrooms, 4 Queen beds, 2 King beds and 6 bathrooms. One family in each house and a party in between… it sounds like the foundation to an awesome wedding!

For this Lovedale wedding venue, I think it would be best for DIY couples. This place gives you a great base. You have accommodation and beautiful land. So couples would really need to do the rest and organise a wedding around that.

Ironstone Estate is a large property so there are a number of spaces where you can potentially have your wedding ceremony. Depending on the season I would probably try to have it under the shade of a tree with the vineyards in the background.

For the reception, you would need to get a marquee or you could just dine under the stars. Get a caterer or a couple of food vans and you are all set for an amazing celebration.

10. Domaine De Binet

Set in the heart of the Hunter Valley, Domaine de Binet and Chapel Mon Coeur is the ideal destination for your Hunter Valley wedding.

Imagine your ceremony in a vineyard paddock with expansive views through the vineyards or in the open-air chapel overlooking the Brokenback Ranges. Feast under the country stars in a Sperry tent, tipi, or marquee for your wedding reception. Binet  Family Wines has exclusive catering services, with very reasonable wedding packages.  That incorporates staff waiting, cutlery, crockery and setup.

The Winemakers Cottage has accommodation on site which sleeps 10 adults, ideal for the bridal party.

11. Dark Horse Vineyard

Located in Lovedale is a beautiful vineyard and wedding venue that is tucked away just on Wilderness Road. It is called Dark Horse Vineyard and it is a 25-acre property that features two massive black caviar barns that were built in a very dramatic shape.

The Barnhouse – is a large homestead that sleeps up to 6 people and is perfect for wedding preparations

The Stables – is a custom-built, American style, barn-like wedding venue that is so much more than a barn. It is a modern, elegant, and luxurious venue that still has that country feel about it. Fully airconditioned, it can seat up to 170 guests.

The property itself is perfect for wedding photos. With manicured lawns, lovely vines, and beautiful paddocks. When you hire this property you get it entirely to yourselves for two days. This makes it one of the best Lovedale wedding venues and I think it should be high up on your list of venues to check out.

12. Tatler Wines

Tatler Wines is a family-owned winery located in the heart of Lovedale. It is a beautiful property that features rows of vines, lovely lawn areas and a large dam. They are a winery and restaurant that sometimes does weddings. They are a beautiful Lovedale venue so I think weddings here would be beautiful.

There are two accommodation options on the property. ‘The Loft’ and ‘The Tatler Lodge’. The lodge has 6 bedrooms and can sleep up to 12 people. The loft has 2 bedrooms and can sleep 4. This is perfect for weddings as you both can get ready onsite and still not see each other.

Wedding ceremonies can take place at a number of places around the property including at the vines or near the dam. The dam seems an obvious choice as it is close to the bar and amenities for guests. If it were me, I would have it near the dam but under the shade of a tree. The direction of the afternoon sun will be perfect and the shade of the tree should soften the sun for photos.

Smaller weddings can have their reception in the restaurant, while larger weddings can use a marquee. As far as Lovedale wedding venues go, this looks like a really lovely property that will do a beautiful weddings.
