Adams Peak Country Estate

Adams Peak Country Estate in Broke is simply one of the most beautiful Hunter Valley wedding venues I’ve ever had the pleasure of shooting. I’ve captured countless weddings there over the years and every single one has been an absolute joy. What I find particularly special about this venue is that every wedding is a completely unique experience, from the lighting to the climate, the surroundings and of course, the couple.

Nestled in the charming village of Broke, just a stone’s throw from Pokolbin, Adams Peak is situated in a breathtakingly picturesque location, far removed from the hustle and bustle of the tourist hotspots. Broke is a serene and idyllic location, surrounded by the striking Brokenback Mountain Range and the legendary Yellow Rock, providing a stunning backdrop for your wedding photographs.

As a Hunter Valley wedding photographer, I can tell you that what really sets Adams Peak apart from other venues is the impeccable service provided by the team. The owners and staff go above and beyond to ensure that both myself and the couples I work with are taken care of. When it comes to choosing a wedding venue, I always advise my clients to prioritise service over the location. You could have the most spectacular venue in the world, but if the service is subpar, it can completely ruin the experience. At Adams Peak Country Estate, you’ll be treated to an incredible location and venue, along with the warm, welcoming and accommodating service of their exceptional team. It truly is a winning combination.

Adams Peak Country Estate is a rustic wedding venue that truly has it all. As a family-owned and operated property, it boasts an impressive 100 acres of land, offering everything you need for a spectacular weekend wedding celebration. With onsite accommodations, breathtaking ceremony locations, and an array of stunning spots for your wedding photos, this venue ticks all the boxes.

I vividly recall my first visit to Adams Peak back in 2014, where I was greeted by the lovely owner, Karyn. She was incredibly welcoming and gave me a tour of the property, even driving me around in her Ute to show me some of her favourite spots. If she was this friendly to me, I can only imagine how kind and accommodating she is to the couples who get married there. As the business has grown, they’ve brought on full-time events managers, who are just as dedicated and amazing as Karyn.

What I admire most about Adams Peak is their ongoing commitment to improving the venue. They never rest on their laurels and are always striving to make it even more incredible than it already is. When I first shot a wedding there back in 2014, there was only a house and a reception room. Today, the place has been utterly transformed! And even amid the challenges of Covid, they have added new extensions to “The Cabin.” They never stop enhancing and refining the venue, ensuring that each wedding held there is truly unforgettable.

Accommodation at Adams Peak

At Adams Peak Country Estate, they understand that wedding days can be quite stressful, so they’ve taken steps to make it as easy and convenient as possible. One way they’ve done this is by offering onsite accommodations for up to 24 guests. As a wedding photographer, I always advise couples to look for venues that offer onsite accommodations. This not only reduces stress but also eliminates the need for travel on the big day.

The House” at Adams Peak is a beautiful property divided into eight private suites, each with a cozy queen-size bed and its own bathroom. Some of the rooms come with additional single beds, which is perfect for groups of up to 20 people.

Another option for accommodation is “The Retreat,” which is a two-bedroom cabin located at the north end of the property, far away from the main areas. The Retreat is specifically designed for the wedding couple to prepare for the big day. Adams Peak has actually added on an extension to The Retreat which has added a large and spacious Bridal suite which is perfect for hair & makeup and getting ready shots. They have also added more screening to enhance privacy. This is a testament to their commitment to continuous improvement.

With these two distinct properties on-site, couples can get ready for their big day without seeing each other, and then simply step out of their rooms and walk to the ceremony. It couldn’t be easier!

While Adams Peak Country Estate offers accommodations for up to 24 guests onsite, it’s understandable that this may not be enough to accommodate all of your wedding guests. Fortunately, the charming town of Broke is home to a wide range of accommodations, from cozy cottages to luxurious villas and homesteads. These properties are just a short distance from Adams Peak, making it easy for your guests to attend the wedding and stay nearby.

Another option for guests is to arrange transportation via bus from larger resorts such as Crown Plaza or Cypress Lakes. This way, your guests can enjoy the wedding celebration without worrying about navigating the country roads on their own. It’s a convenient and safe option that allows everyone to have a great time.

Ceremony Options at Adams Peak

At Adams Peak Country Estate, you have the choice of three picturesque settings for your wedding ceremony. “The Lawn,” “The Hill,” and “The Secret Tree” each offer their own unique charm and ambience.

After photographing numerous weddings at Adams Peak, I can confidently say that “The Lawn” is the ultimate location for your ceremony. It boasts breathtaking views of the mountain ranges, and the bridal entrance remains hidden until the last possible moment, creating an element of surprise and excitement for your guests.

However, it’s worth noting that there is no shade available during the ceremony, which could be an issue during the warmer months. In the summertime, I highly recommend considering “The Secret Tree” as it provides some relief from the heat and offers a stunning backdrop as the sun sets behind it. Just keep in mind that it’s a bit of a trek for your guests, and there are no restroom facilities available.

While “The Lawn” is typically used for pre-dinner drinks and canapés, I personally believe it’s best to keep it reserved for this purpose rather than the ceremony. The location is not as impressive as the other two options, and it doesn’t provide the same level of ambiance and charm that you’ll find elsewhere on the estate.

Wet Weather Options at Adams Peak

Adams Peak offers exceptional backup options in the event of inclement weather on your wedding day. If your reception is being held at the estate, you have the choice of either “The Hay Shed” or “The Barn” as your alternate ceremony location.

It’s reassuring to know that you’ll have fantastic options available to you in the event of rain. You can rest easy knowing that your ceremony will be beautiful and dry, regardless of the weather outside.

Wedding Photo Opportunites at Adams Peak

Adams Peak is situated on a sprawling 100-acre property, providing endless opportunities for stunning wedding photos. From the magnificent one-hundred-year-old Ironbark tree known as “The Secret Tree” to the charming highland cows and picturesque dam with its very own jetty, there’s no shortage of breathtaking backdrops for your wedding photography.

You won’t have to venture far to capture your perfect wedding shots, as there are ample options available right on the estate. With open fields, rustic farm buildings, and scenic natural surroundings, Adams Peak has everything you need to create lasting memories that you’ll cherish for a lifetime.

It’s important to note that while Adams Peak offers a plethora of exceptional photo opportunities on its expansive estate, they do not have vineyards or vines on the property. If vineyards are a must-have for your wedding photos, you’ll need to venture offsite to another winery in the Broke area.

It’s worth noting that not all wineries allow photography on their premises, so you’ll need to arrange permission in advance. Be prepared to pay a fee or purchase a set amount of wine from the winery in exchange for using their property for photos. It’s crucial to obtain written permission to ensure that everyone is on the same page and that there are no misunderstandings. With a little bit of planning and communication, you’ll be able to capture your perfect vineyard wedding shots in the beautiful Broke region.

Having said that, there is really no need to go offsite for photos.

Wedding Reception Options at Adams Peak

At Adams Peak Country Estate, you have three amazing options for your wedding reception: the great outdoors, the “Hay Shed” or “The Barn.” While I haven’t had the chance to photograph an outdoor reception at Adams Peak, I can only imagine how spectacular it would be! With the stunning natural surroundings and some festoon and fairy lights, you could create an absolutely magical atmosphere for your special day.

I’ve captured many wedding receptions in “The Barn,” which is a fantastic rustic venue with ample space for up to 150 guests. With front and side decks, restrooms, and a bar, this venue has everything you need for a seamless reception. It’s tastefully designed with plenty of permanent fixtures and lights, so you don’t need to do much in the way of decoration to make it look beautiful.

“The Barn” is now fully air-conditioned, and is really comfortable on the hottest of summer days and the coolest of winter nights. A wonderful option for your wedding reception.

The Hay Shed is a great option if you are looking for that outdoor wedding reception with the safety of a roof.

final thoughts

Adams Peak Country Estate weddings

I have photographed lots of weddings at Adams Peak Country Estate and it is without a doubt, one of my very favourite wedding venues in the Hunter Valley. It is a dedicated wedding venue, which means they really just do weddings. They do lots of them and they do them really well.

You can spend the entire weekend onsite with your family and friends. And the wedding day from start to finish all happens onsite. So there is no need to travel anywhere.

It is a huge property, so there are lots of locations for wedding photos. And this place looks amazing right on sunset. It sits up on a hill so it has beautiful views out over the mountain ranges.

There is a reason why Adams Peak is so popular for weddings. Beautiful location, great facilities, wonderful staff and great catering. Everything you need for an awesome wedding. Highly recommend this Hunter Valley wedding venue.
