Mount View Wedding Venues

Are you planning a wedding and searching for a stunning Mount View wedding venue? I am a wedding photographer who photographs weddings in Mount View, nearly every week. And wow what a place for weddings.

Mount View is a small region in the Hunter Valley located between Cessnock and Wollombi and this area is an absolute hidden gem. Most people visiting the Hunter Valley never visit Mount View. They say in the middle of Pokolbin and think that that is what the Hunter Valley is. The amazing thing about Mount View is that it is up in the mountains. It is not on a flat piece of land. You are in the mountains looking down on the landscape.

It might be controversial to say, but I would say that the views and the landscape here is the best in the Hunter Valley. You drive up steep dirt roads and tight blind corners. But when you get to the top you are greeted with amazing lookouts, rolling hills with cows and vineyards as far as the eye can see.

You will get amazing wedding photos if you choose a wedding venue in Mount View. Some of these venues I have been to heaps of times and others I have yet to photograph, but would love to.

1. Goosewing Cottage

This is the best place in Hunter Valley, if not Australia, to have an elopement or small wedding. It is beautiful, secluded, very scenic and the owners are amazing!

Goosewing Cottage started life as a family home, then as an accommodation venue. Now you can book accommodation and have a small mid-week wedding for 20 people or less. If you want to have a reception, then you have to take that offsite. You can just go to one of the many restaurants in the Hunter Valley.

There are two properties onsite. The large “Homestead” and the smaller “Cottage”. You can book one of them or both of them for your small wedding. Ceremonies take place down by the dam, under the pergola. Then after the ceremony, you can wander the grounds and explore the area as you get epic sunset photos. It is located up in the mountains of Mount View and the only things around are cattle, horses and chickens. It doesn’t get much more relaxed and beautiful than this Mount View wedding venue.

2. Bistro Molines

Bistro Molines

Bistro Molines is a stunning restaurant owned by Hunter Valley legends Robert and Sally Molines. This Chefs Hatted restaurant is located within the Talavera Grove Carillion Wines estate in Mount View. Bistro Molines sits on top of a hill and has spectacular, panoramic views over the region.

This is probably the most scenic Mount View wedding venue if you are after rolling hills filled with vineyards. It is crazy how beautiful it is. This is a really popular cellar door and restaurant. They don’t do that many weddings there, but when they go they are amazing.

There is a cottage onsite where you can spend the night. Ceremonies generally happen in the courtyard to the side of the restaurant, with the amazing view as your backdrop. You have a wedding here because you want the best food and wine, with one of the most incredible views in the Hunter Valley. Bistro Molines can accommodate up to 90 people and is one of the best Mount View wedding venues.

3. Cedars Mountview

Located deep in the mountains of Mount View is a luxury retreat and Mount View wedding venue called Cedars Mountview. It is located on 94 acres of land with individual villas and luxury cottages scattered around the property.

They have done weddings in the past, and have even hosted a large music festival. Looking at their website now, it doesn’t look like they are promoting weddings anymore. But I think it’s worth mentioning because this place has a lot of potential.

They have a lovely secret garden-style area in the middle of the property where they have had wedding ceremonies. Wedding receptions would depend entirely on the size. Small numbers could easily be hosted in one of the villas, while large ones would require a marquee to be hired.

4. Briar Ridge Vineyard

This venue might be one of the most underrated wedding venues in the Hunter Valley, not just in Mount View. Briars Ridge Vineyard is primarily a vineyard but they could and should be booked out every weekend for weddings.

They are located high up in the mountains and their property backs onto the Bistro Molines / Tallavera Grove winery. So I don’t really even know whos vines are whos, but I do know that it looks amazing.

Wedding ceremonies take place in the gardens and wedding receptions take place in the Rose Room and terrace. But what sets this place apart from other wedding venues, is the view. And the potential for absolutely incredible wedding photos. Have a look through their website and you might also see how good this place could be for your wedding.
