Tocal Wedding Venues
Are you planning a Hunter wedding and looking for an amazing Tocal wedding venue? I’ve shot heaps of weddings around the Tocal region and I have seen my fair share of awesome wedding venues. So if you are searching for one, here are my favourites.
Tocal has had a long history in the Hunter community. It is the ancestral home of the Wonnarua people, and the name Tocal comes directly from the Aboriginal work mean “plenty”. Since Europeans settled on their land it has become a strong farming community. Therefore around Tocal you will see lots of farming properties and much less of the vineyard properties that the Hunter Valley is typically known for. And the Tocal wedding venues listed here reflect this and are absolutely stunning and perfect for your wedding.
So have a look thought this list. It’s not a comprehensive as other regions of the Hunter, but if you are looking for a country, farm-style wedding then Tocal wedding venues might work for you.
1. Tocal Homestead
Tocal Homestead is a beautiful, rustic venue located in the countryside of Tocal. The beautiful, historic Homestead is located on top of a tiny rise overlooking a lagoon. The house garden consists of majestic fig trees lining the Homestead yard, making it a perfect venue for on-site celebrations and garden parties pre-dinner.
You have the option of holding your wedding ceremony in the Homestead garden, in the Blacket Barn or more formally in the Tocal Chapel under the giant fig trees.
The Heritage Hay Shed maintains a 100-year-old bed outside. The interior was converted into a new place of work with substantial use of reclaimed timber. It is a great place for a tea party or a seated meal. For all the visitors the rustic look is welcoming.
The Homestead grounds include a number of old houses, barns, and timber gated paddocks, providing countless photographic opportunities for your wedding. Beautiful wedding photos are guaranteed.
Address: 957 Tocal Rd, Paterson NSW
2. Albion Farm
Albion Farm Gardens features 100 acres of fields and farms and 25 acres of stunning gardens which are perfect for wedding photography and for your wedding day. It is part farm, part gardens and is located in the suburb of Woodville. Albion Farm Gardens was the first farm in the area and is still a family-run, working farm, and has been run by the same family since 1971.
There are many location options for your wedding ceremony in the gardens. Or you can have your ceremony inside the historic timber barn. From a wedding photographers point of view, either option will be great at this amazing hunter valley wedding venue.
There is a three-bedroom cottage onsite which is available for weddings but there is no reception venue onsite. But there is one directly across the road at Woodville School of Arts hall. Which is what they recommend you use. It is a lovely country hall and is a ‘blank canvas’ type venue, where you can style the room to suit your vision.
Address: 869 Paterson Rd, Woodville NSW
3. Mindaribba House
UPDATE: As of 2021 Mindaribba House has been sold by the owners and is currently not taking weddings. We’ll have to wait and see if the new owners take on weddings.
Mindaribba House is a family-owned and operated business and they have been having weddings for eight and a half years in Mindaribba House. This is a beautiful, private Hunter Valley wedding venue situated just two hours north of Sydney in the Hunter Valley NSW.
The beautiful and exclusive Paterson River 1872 home, cattle yards, reclaimed wood stable, and banks provide spectacular photo opportunities. The estate has 5 acres of gardens and is 100 acres of countryside and there are a number of locations to choose from for your ceremony. The Paterson River flows along the entire length of the eastern border under the river’s broad pecan tree is a great place to conduct ceremonies or for wedding photography
