Are you engaged and looking for an awesome Pokolbin wedding venue? This is the list of the best wedding venues in Pokolbin. Many of these venues I have photographed weddings at and some are on my wish list. But they are all great and worth checking out.

Pokolbin is in the heart of wine country in New South Wales. It is in the centre of the bustling Hunter region and is jam packed with amazing wineries, restaurants, cafes and tourist activities. And of course it is jam packed with beautiful wedding venues.

Every weekend these Pokolbin wedding venues host weddings for couples from Sydney & Newcastle and beyond. And it is an extremely popular location for weddings. The good thing is that there is variety of Pokolbin wedding venue styles to suits all tastes. From the elegant and classy to the rustic and rural.

So in no particular order, here is my list of the best Pokolbin wedding venues that you should consider for your wedding.

1 – Bimbadgen Palmers Lane

This awesome wedding venue is located down the end of a long dirt road with amazing views of the mountain ranges and the vineyards. It is relatively new, as I used to take couples there for photos only a few years ago before it was a wedding venue.

It has one of the best locations in Pokolbin. The venue itself is located above a dam and overlooks rows of vines and vineyards. The ceremonies take place on top of a small hill and overlook the other side of the valley and has the mountain range in the background. It is a pretty spectacular spot.

Celebrate with Esca Bimbadgen Restaurant’s award-winning cuisine, Bimbadgen’s world-class wines, and your closest family and friends!

It is also the perfect Pokolbin wedding venue to have an outdoor wedding reception. Festoon lights hanging overhead and the stars above… pretty perfect!

2 – Tamburlaine Organic Wines

Tamburlaine Organic Wines is a Pokolbin wedding venue, located at one of the finest organic wine vineyards in the country. And their wedding venue is also pretty awesome.

The gardens at the front of the property is the location for their wedding ceremonies. It is surrounded by trees and is a lovely backdrop.

The Lodge is the location for the wedding reception. A large blank canvas style room that overlooks a lake. The other great thing about this Pokolbin wedding venue is that one of the largest accommodation resorts is located across the road. Which makes life easy for you and your guests.

3. Hunter Valley Garden

Hunter Valley Gardens provides everything you’ll need to plan the perfect wedding. There are 10 themed gardens available for your ceremony, as well as numerous photographic spots and a variety of private wedding reception spaces.

Hunter Valley Gardens exemplifies natural beauty while striving to make your wedding day absolutely flawless. The Gardens offer a unique benefit in that they may be used for wedding photography, ceremonies, and receptions all in one beautiful setting. The Hunter Valley Gardens make it really easy to have a beautiful wedding.

4. Peppers Creek Chapel & Barrel Room

Peppers Creek Chapel and Barrel Room is one of the most iconic and longest running wedding venue in Pokolbin. I did my first Pokolbin wedding in there in 2010 and it has remained just as good as it did back then.

The sandstone chapel is located in a separate building from the Barrel Room and offers beautiful views out over the country vineyards,

Peppers Creek Barrel Room is a rustic, barn-like barrel room featuring high ceilings with thick wooden beams and sandstone walls. In the centre of the room is a spectacular five-metre long stone fireplace and huge candelabras which just make you want to have a winter wedding.

The staff, food and management are all incredible and this venue would have to be one of the very best and most popular Pokolbin wedding venues.

5. The Convent & Circa 1876

The Convent and Circa 1876 are one of the most elegant and popular Pokolbin wedding venues and certainly one of my favourites.

The Escarpment Group owns the Convent Hunter Valley and Circa 1876, which are both located on the same land as Peppertree Wines. The Convent is on one side of the site, while Circa 1876 is on the other.

The Convent contains all of the rooms, as well as a restaurant that may be used as a reception area as well as a large marquee. The primary reception ceremony location is at the wonderful Circa 1876 restaurant. The estate as a whole is lovely for wedding photographs, with lots of lovely spots to roam around and enjoy.

I did my first Circa 1876 wedding back in 2011 when it was called Roberts Restaurant. It has grown a lot since then and there have been many upgrades since The Escarpement Group took over. But it remains one of the very best wedding venues in Pokolbin for an elegant yet rustic wedding. Highly recommend.

6. Enzo Weddings at IronBark Hill

Enzo Weddings is situated on the IronBark Hill Vineyard and it is an amazing and very popular Hunter Valley wedding venue.

It sits on thirty acres of land and because it is located on a working vineyard, there are rolling hills filled with vines everywhere.

There is a large chapel onsite, with huge floor to ceiling windows that look onto the vines. Another amazing thing about this chapel is that is air conditioned, which is something you need when having a wedding in the Hunter Valley.

The reception room is a large rustic yet modern building which also looks onto the vines. It is total elegance in the vines. Chandeliers, high pitch roof and amazing food and service. You can’t go wrong with this Hunter Valley wedding venue.

7. Ben Ean

Ben Ean, formally known as the Lindeman’s Estate, has probably the most epic vines around with a huge tree that sits on top of a hill. You get married here just for these views.

It has recently be taken over by the Petersons & McGuigan families and they have injected new life into the reception area which was greatly needed. You can have an indoor or outdoor reception here, and it can accommodate a massive 400 people.

But in my opinion, the best thing about Ben Ean is the location. From a wedding photographers point of view, the photos are always epic here.

8. Peterson House

Peterson House has had some massive improvement to it over the last couple of years. They have changed from a restaurant that occasionally did weddings, to a proper wedding venue. And they are doing things really really well.

It is located right in the middle of Pokolbin and every tourist and visitor drives past it. It is so central that it is good to see they are making the most out of the location.

They have built a beautiful wedding chapel on the property and is arguably one of the best chapels in the Hunter Valley. Fully air conditioned and with an upstairs balcony. You can give your guest the comfort they need but still have a country wedding.

They have also upgraded their marquee. It now has concrete floors and proper toilet facilities. Weddings used to happen in the restaurant, but the marquee is a huge improvement and I can see this place being booked out every weekend on multiple days now.

9. vovo Kirkton Park Hunter Valley

Kirkton Park is another venue that has been take over by a much larger company. And the truth is, it really needed the cash injection. It was looking run down and tired and now it has been renovated and is a much better resort and wedding venue.

Voco Kirkton Park is located in a more rural area of Pokolbin which gives it much better views and a more scenic landscape than other properties that are located in the centre of Pokolbin.

There are a number of options around the property for a garden ceremony and there two rooms to choose from for your reception. They can cater weddings up to 200 people.

10. Chateau Elan

Chateau Elan is an elegant and luxurious hotel in one of the most beautiful locations in the Hunter Valley. It is located within “The Vintage” estate in Rothury and sits next to a golf course.

The Carriage House is a perfect location for your wedding ceremony. A fully air-conditioned, rustic sandstone chapel, with the stones reused from an 1843 homestead in the Hunter Valley. If you prefer an outdoor wedding, you can choose to have it at the Fairway Rotunda. There are a couple of beautiful function rooms to choose from for your wedding reception.

11. Kookaburra Hideaway

Located on 25 acres of beautiful land, with views over the Hunter Valley and Brokenback Mountains is Kookaburra Hideaway.

The Wedding Shed at Kookaburra Hideaway is the perfect location for all kinds of weddings and elopements. There is accommodation available and wedding ceremonies can take place next to the Marrying Tree.

12. Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort

This scenic resort and wedding venue in the Hunter Valley is a beautiful choice for a wedding. With 300-acres, a pro gold course, two bars, two restaurants, three pools and two tennis courts. You and your guests will be fully entertained the entire weekend.

They can accommodate intimate weddings as well as full on extravaganza’s in their ballroom. And your wedding reception can be held in their convention centre, Lagoon Pool Marquee, or in the Restaurant.

13. Twine Restaurant

Twine Restaurant is located at Wynwood Estate and it is a beautiful Hunter Valley wedding venue. It is located on just over one hundred acres of sweeping land. Full of vines, dams and trees. It is in a really beautiful location.They have various choices for your ceremony and offer two wedding reception rooms to choose from, including a barrel room.

14. Hanging Tree Wines

Hanging Tree Wines is a family-owned boutique winery set on 40 acres with spectacular views and scenery. Particularly at sunset with the Brokenback Range as your backdrop.

There are many options available on the property for your ceremony and your reception can take place on the deck of the Homestead. If you are looking for a Hunter Valley venue that has heritage building with a rustic, country vibe, then this place just might be for you.

15. The Woods, Pokolbin

The Woods at Pokolbin is a luxury accommodation venue that also does small and intimate weddings and elopements. There are three beautiful properties onsite and are located far enough apart that you have your own privacy and space.

It is located right in the centre of Pokolbin and you are a short walk to Restaurant Circa 1876 and Restaurant Eighty Eight, the award winning Pepper Tree Wines and Sobel Wines. Surrounding The Woods are a forest of tree giving you a beautiful location for your ceremony and wedding.

16. Willow Tree Estate

Willow Tree Estate is new to the wedding scene and it should do very well as it is a gorgeous property in one of the best locations in Pokolbin.

It is located at the end of a long dirt road on Mistletoe Lane. And if you have heard of Mistletoe Lane, it is because it is one of the most picturesque and beautiful locations. One of those instagrammable locations in NSW.

Set on seven beautiful acres of land, Willow Tree Estate is the largest self-contained house in the Hunter and it can cater to weddings of up to 150 guests.

17. Spicers Vineyards Estate

Spicers Vineyard Estate is a boutique five-star property with just twelve luxury suites, a four bedroom house and the renowned Restaurant Botanica.

Wedding ceremonies take place in the garden to the side of the restaurant, under the shade of a large tree. The grounds are covered in vines which are lovely for wedding photos. And wedding receptions happen at Restaurant Botanica. They can cater to wedding of up to 80 guests.

18. Hope Estate Wedding

If you have been to the Pokolbin, you have probably driven past Hope Estate. It is located right in the middle of all the action. Hope Estate is known for its amazing wines, it award winning craft beers and for the concerts it put on. it puts on huge concerts and it can also host massive weddings.

The Great Cask Hall, Harvest Restaurant and The Winery are all options for your wedding. And if you are someone who has 1000 Facebook friends, then guess what? You can invite them all!

19. Hunters Quarters 

Located within the Cockfighters Ghost winery is Hunter Quarter (HQ), a relaxed and elegant restaurant with some of the finest food in the region.

Weddings take place outdoors with the vineyards as your backdrop and the restaurant can host weddings of up to 120 guests.

20. Piggs Peake

Piggs Peake is a winery in Pokolbin with a history of breaking the rules of wine making. They also have a beautiful wedding venue.

Wedding ceremonies take place in their courtyard and the reception can be held either in their restaurant or in their barrel room. If you have enough people, I would choose the barrel room. It is basically a black canvas venue, that is a bit industrial and it surrounded by barrels of wine. It is pretty awesome location for a wedding.

21. Mercure Resort Hunter Valley

Mercure Resort Hunter Valley is located right in the heart of Pokolbin next to the Hunter Valley Gardens. It is a 4 ½ star hotel and is an ideal venue with many options for couples.

Ceremonies will generally be held in the Lodge Gardens or The Library. And there are four reception rooms to choose from for your dinner and party. The grounds are no huge, so this Pokolbin wedding venue is best suited to smaller weddings and elopements.

22. White Barn Pokolbin

WhiteBarn sits at the heart of the Hunter Valley Wine Country and is one of the newest wedding venues. The property is 30 acres big with a private vineyard and amazing views of the Brokenback Ranges. If you are looking for Grandeur, this barn has over 500 square meters of footprint, a fully air-conditioned area, a licensed bar, and 8-meter high cathedral ceilings. 

The interior’s color palette lets you have soft natural photos and lovely clean lines depending on your style to complement the furnishings. If some of your guests want to stay overnight or longer, the accommodation is a few steps away. As you walk your way to the rooms, you will be greeted by vendors offering various products.

The White Barn all-inclusive wedding venue includes all the extra items couples would love to have during their wedding. The planners will help you to make your wedding an unforgettable one.

23. Estate Tuscany

Estate Tuscany is located at the magnificent Brokenback Ranges with a perfect vineyard setting. The place specializes in summer weddings where you can exchange your “I Do’s” in the sun and celebrate with your friends underneath the stars in the courtyard. 

During rainy days, they offer an indoor venue at a discounted rate. The accommodation includes the cherry on top, to spend your special day with your dearest friends and relatives. The venue’s view will make the event a memorable experience. 

If you choose to have an indoor wedding, the hotel resort in Pokolbin can make the wedding ceremony solemn and enjoy the food at the reception. 

A garden Courtyard is set against the estate’s vineyards and the Brokenback Ranges, which can serve as the event’s reception. You can also have it at the Fountain View or Mill Restaurant. You can take as many photos as you want and enjoy the beautiful backdrop.

24. Leogate Estate Wines

Leogate Estate Wines is a 220 acres vineyard for weddings and other events. The venue has an opulent cellar door great to enjoy the best-tasting wine. If you prefer an intimate fireside tasting or alfresco tasting overlooking the ranges in summer, the cellar door staff will ensure your visit is worth remembering. 

The Leogate Estate Cellar Door, function center, and restaurants are located at the new building. The venue has received several awards from various wine shows, like the James Rogers Trophy at the 2014 International Wine Challenge in London. In 2015, it was awarded the NSW Regional Wedding Caterer of the year. 

For the reception, the Leogate restaurant is a great venue. The place offers a unique and great tasting menu of your choice. You get to taste their best tasting wine to match each course. Enjoy both the stunning views and the food they serve.

25. Spicers Guesthouse

Spicers Guesthouse is the great mix of elegance and glamour nestled in the unique Australian landscape in the NSW Hunter Valley. Offering a variety of wedding and reception facilities with 49 rooms, including a four-bedroom cottage for overnight stays.
Imagine saying your wedding vows under the Lovedale Pavilion ‘s white rafters surrounded by glass walls looking across gumtree fields. Followed by drinks and a generous grassy table on the Lovedale Lawn where your guests can lounge before dinner while you and your wedding party make the most of the vast grounds to take pictures of your dream wedding day.

Pokolbin is known for its excellent food & wine and wedding venues. And Spicers Guesthouse definitely keeps up with this tradition.   Their award-winning chefs chose the best seasonal food and created an incredible menu which your guests would surely love. 26. Vinden Estate Homestead

The Vinden Estate homestead provides a rare chance to stay in the heart of the Hunter Valley, at a modern commercial winery in Pokolbin. Have a wedding in a beautiful homestead in the Hunter Valley overlooking the Brokenback Ranges and adjacent Hunter Valley vineyards.

Vinden Estate is among the most coveted properties in the Hunter Valley wine region. The homestead is based on early 1840s Victorian architecture and boasts unpretentious beauty and elegance. This venue in Hunter Valley overlooks 12 acres of luxury winemaking. Set on 25 acres of park-like grounds, a swimming pool, tennis court, greenhouse, olive grove and lush gardens making it one of the finest country estates in this area.

Receptions can be held in the restaurant for up to 50 people. A marquee can be used for weddings over 50 at various locations around the vineyard. Making this one of the great Pokolbin Wedding Venues.

27. Tulloch Wines

Tulloch Wines is a really nice Pokolbin wedding venue that I have photographed a few years ago. They have a really nice set up for weddings with their whole bottom level perfect for weddings. But they are more of a winery that occasionally does weddings than a wedding venue as such. They don’t even seem to list weddings on their website.

Photography wise, Tulloch Wines have some really stunning locations. It is located at the top of a hill with the vines all around them. So it is a lovely location for wedding photography.

They do have a very long and rich history in Pokolbin, so if you love their wines then get in contact with them because they have done weddings in the past.

28. RidgeView Restaurant

The RidgeView in Pokolbin, New South Wales is a beautiful and scenic vineyard with stunning vineyards, Australian bush and waterways. Nestled between vineyards and charming wetlands, the restaurant serves excellent Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine made from herbs and vegetables grown in their own backyard. The restaurant also features huge timber valued ceilings with a large undercover deck.

They specialise in smaller more intimate weddings and are a beautiful option if you want a relaxed and fun-filled day. One of our favourite Pokolbin Wedding Venues.
